Installing and enabling cellular and satellite internet in remote locations
One of the services we provide is installing and enabling cellular and satellite internet for event spaces and locations that have insufficient or no internet.
Our team sets up custom systems to provide internet access for remote production staff or to stream a shoot or event while on location.
We do site surveys in advance and depending on the location challenges we recommend cellular or satellite service and set up wifi or wired internet.
Recently I received a call from a client that was having an event where they invited special guests to a product release at a remote location in Upstate NY.
The only issue was that they needed internet and there was no stable internet at the location, plus they needed to cover the entire space of the venue.
Oh and by the way the Event was starting the next day. The entire success of the event hinged on the guests being able to post on their social media sites.
Not an easy thing to do with no internet.
Well we explained our strategy and our team headed out to install a temporary wifi network that would distribute the satellite internet signal. In addition to covering the entire area of the event it was raining both Friday and Saturday!
The Starlink System we employed worked like a champ and we successfully pulled off the event.
And in this final picture you see our man, Josh, installing one of the many access points needed to cover the entire location!
Beaming Up in the Backcountry: Bringing Wi-Fi to a Remote State Park
On another occasion we were called to a remote location in Minnewaska State Park. We had two challenging locations and the production team needed internet connection.
We did a location scout and determined what cellular carrier worked best and provided high gain antennas to amplify the signal.
Then we set up 2 bonded cellular modems and enabled the production team, clients and crew connectivity to the world.
In addition we also created a local area wireless network so that multiple wireless devices could be used.
Needless to say it was a success!
From Streets to Screens: Transforming a Van into a Mobile Video Village with QTAKE Cloud
Using QTAKE, an IPad and a Screenport to stream footage live from the streets of NYC to Clients and Creatives in a Video Village Van:
Client: We have a shoot where we are running around NYC and we can’t have any carts or stands at the location and the clients will be in a van that can’t be close to the set!
Me: Got it! We can use QTAKE cloud streaming and take the signal wirelessly from the camera and transmit to the clients in a van using cellular!
After analyzing all the options, our team at LH Video put this cool rig together to make this work. The ipad is running on T Mobile 5g and we are receiving the signal with a Teradek Bolt Pro 3000 Transmitter and Receiver.
QTAKE Cloud Streaming is an amazing tool that we have perfected in getting images from crowded locations on the streets of NYC to clients and creatives who are in a van a few blocks away.
We are always up for a good challenge and when we received this call from our client we took it on!
They were shooting a person on the street interview in crowded locations all over the city. We would usually use a wireless system but we never knew where the client van could park.
So we opted to use QTAKE Cloud streaming with the QTAKE Screenport as the capture device and an Ipad mounted in a iographer Ipad holder.
Since we were not able to bring carts or stands on the street we rigged up the Ipad holder with a wireless receiver and took that signal and streamed it through QTAKE Cloud Streaming to a laptop in the client van and then wired up into the monitor in the van with video and audio.
It worked flawlessly. We used our Pepwave bonded cellular boxes for the laptop set up in the van and we used a T-Mobile Cellular IPad to stream the signal from.
Big Apple, Big Screens: Conquering NYC Rooftop Monitoring with Quad Splitting Magic
This was another very interesting shoot 🎥
Clients were on a floor down from the rooftop and they wanted a station on the roof also.
We added this system which is daylight viewable and used a quad splitter to put 2 images up on this monitor and also sent the images down stairs.
Worked like a charm!
Ditch the Bulky Rig: Meet the Modular Video Assist System That Adapts to Anything
Imagine having video equipment that’s like a Swiss Army knife – easy to carry, adapts to any situation, and can do just about anything.
That’s what Lee and our team at LH Video created when they decided to make some of our video assist systems modular.
You may be asking yourself ” Modular? What do you mean by that?”
Well if you check out the picture below, you will see that we have two cases stacked on top of one another.
One of them is our QTAKE Video Assist System, and the other is our local streaming setup so that the crew can view on their Apple devices.
As sweet as that is, not all jobs require local or cloud streaming. Or maybe you’re filming in a tiny room, climbing lots of stairs or hiking up a small mountain.
No problem. 😉
Our modular system can easily be broken down and it’s even easier to move around, even in tight spaces.
Not every video needs to be streamed live to the whole world, and some of our operators need equipment that can fit in their vehicle — so we built the system to be broken down and put back together without a hitch.
It can also be carried upstairs in buildings that have no elevators or a rooftop, making it more manageable for the operator. ✅
It all resides on an Inovativ cart, and we also use the Upgrade Innovations Whaley Rail to mount the Access Points for local streaming and the Teradek receiver for the camera signal.
As you can see, it’s a pretty sweet setup. Glad that our vision on this manifested into reality. ✨
Feel free to contact us to discuss your next project. We are always ready for new challenges!
