The Professional Approach

Over the years I have learned so much from people who were at the top of their game in their profession.

It started when I was 8 years old and played little league baseball and my coach was a total pro in teaching the basics. I excelled and became one of the best hitters and fielders for my age.

Once you learn the basics of anything you can then start to master the subject.

It’s not an accident that someone becomes a professional. It requires a lot of hard work and persistence to learn the craft in what one does or wants to do.

There usually is a specialized technology involved in a creative profession, plus the words that are used specific to that profession. On top of that there are the little secrets that you learn along the way from the masters of that subject.

For me I have used the fruits of observation. I observe what people do in my craft and also in the craft of others. I truly enjoy my personal relationships with the people I work with and for. I always look at how I can make a difference on set while I do my job.

If I make one persons day better I have succeeded that day. Whether I make them smile because I was nice to them or they smile because I paid attention to their needs on set and gave them great service. I wasn’t always like that.

I mean I always wanted to do my best and do a great job but only until recently did I start observing that the people who get the most respect are people who are nice to people and treat them well. They invite others to help them create their vision and participate in the process and not shut them out.

They also love to educate and mentor and see that other people get ahead in life and they give more than they take. I was pretty impressed with this as when I was younger a lot of the people who I worked for that were successful were not the nicest people. I thought that was the way to treat people to get ahead.

I am so happy that I see this now and have shifted my viewpoint. Caring and helping others is one of the greatest things that anyone can do. It’s noticed and appreciated by many people.

Being nice and explaining what someone might have to do to improve is better than jumping down their throat and making them feel really bad.

Giving to and creating a community has always been something that I have wanted to do and work everyday towards this goal. I started my company LH Video with this goal in mind and no matter what happens I keep pushing towards that goal.

It takes a lot to be a professional and train others to be one too. But over the years I have definitely accomplished this many times over. My goal is to continue to improve and deliver the highest quality video assist services to the New York film community.

I consider that we are “Video Assist Specialists”. Professionals who provide video assist services to our clients and any other related services such as Visual Effects video assist, wireless video, video villages, monitoring, streaming, etc… My years of experience also come into play a Is have experienced many trying situations and always have a solution.

Video assist is a solution to keep your production costs down. By having the ability to review what has been shot instantly you can ensure that you have the shot and if you don’t do it again.

One shot that does not work can cost you so much more in the end than what it costs to hire a competent, well trained video assist operator (VTR) with gear that works. In all my years I never cost a production time. I have many times helped work out the questions that my clients have had because I knew my tools and I can show them what the were uncertain about.

You can’t do that unless you have someone on set doing playback. Yes you could look at the still images but when it all comes to certainty playback is the way to go.
So we are here to help you deliver to your clients and we do it as well if not better than anyone out there. We truly pride ourselves in our jobs and know how vital video assist is to a shoot.

Until next time!
